Saturday Scholars
The Office of Diversity Programs at the Washington University School of Medicine coordinates and directs the Medicine and Anatomy Program in collaboration with the St. Louis Public Schools.
An integral part of part of this program is the Saturday Scholars and Excellence in Learning Course which targets high school juniors and seniors with an interest in the heath sciences and/or medicine. A designated number of students from 15 participating schools are chosen by the teachers to attend lectures, labs, and a series of library sessions on health information resources over four weekends.
In association with the Office of Diversity Programs and the St. Louis Public Schools, the Becker Medical Library partnered with the Saturday Scholars Program to:
- Provide access to credible Health Information Resources, and
- Cement the bond between the lectures and lab work by teaching the students to find and evaluate health information resources.
