Portrait of Harry L. Alexander, M.D., by Fred Conway, n.d. Oil on canvas, framed, total dimensions 55 x 43 inches. Alexander was a professor of clinical medicine and an allergist in private practice. He was acting head of medicine, 1941-1942. A plaque once attached to the base of the frame is presently missing. The Harry L. Alexander portrait fund was organized by former residents at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, including Herbert Wiegand (1945), Harold Joseph (1955), and Lester Garfinkel (1965). |
