Portrait of George Dock, M.D., by Gustav F. Goetsch, 1964. Oil on canvas, framed, total dimensions 36 x 30.6 inches. A brass plaque at the base of the frame reads: “GEORGE DOCK, 1860-1951 / PROFESSOR OF MEDICINE, 1910-1922 / DEAN, SCHOOL OF MEDICINE, 1910-1912.” William Dock, M.D. (1889-1990), his son, commissioned the portrait in 1963. The artist painted the portrait from photographs. The portrait is listed in the Goetsch catalog as no. Oil-6410. It was restored in 1982 by Clemens L. Robertson, conservator of the St. Louis Art Museum. |
