WUSM classroom

The case studies below provide some examples of how various Becker electronic resources can be used by medical students and residents in their training. Click on the links below to read the suggested research strategies.

Clinical Scenario #1

Your 48-year old male patient presents with a 4-month history of:

A proton pump inhibitor (PPI) partially resolves his symptoms. He has no prior surgeries, denies tobacco use, consumes moderate alcohol, and has no cardiopulmonary or abdominal abnormalities on physical examination. He is moderately obese.

Clinical Scenario #2

A 27 year-old HIV+ man presents to the ER with cough, difficulty breathing, and fever. He is ultimately diagnosed with Pneumocystis pneumonia. What do you need to know for treatment?

The above scenarios were developed in conjunction with Washington University medical student Kal Clark.

Are there other Clinical Scenarios that you would like to see used as examples?
