BeckerLive – Virtual Chat with a Reference Librarian – Begins Monday, August 20th

Becker Medical Library will introduce its new virtual reference service – Becker Live – on Monday, August 20, 2007. This new service allows patrons to interact in real time with a reference librarian or specialist. BeckerLive is part of the Library’s continuing efforts to facilitate communication between users and the library staff.
BeckerLive utilizes Meebo Chat Service to provide a web-based reference tool in which the user and librarian send instant messages back and forth. The Becker Library reference staff will monitor BeckerLive Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. No special software is required to access the new live chat service. Users simply type their reference questions in the Meebo Chat box and a librarian/specialist will respond.
