Reserving the M. Kenton King Faculty Center
The M. Kenton King Faculty Center is located on the 7th floor of the Bernard Becker Medical Library. The center is open daily unless an event is scheduled.
Rules and Regulations
- Only one event is scheduled per day and must be university related.
- The host must sign an agreement with the Library and assume responsibility for minimizing noise, disruption of Library function and any damage to the room and furnishings.
- A usage fee is charged by the library for each event. The cost of food is not included in the library’s fee. Sit-down meal meetings should be limited to a maximum of 100 guests. Events that include food service of any kind will incur an additional $75 charge from Facilities for cleaning the King Center after the event. Facilities monitors the room reservation schedule and will automatically clean and charge for all food events.
- Fees are:
- $250 for sit down or buffet meals
- $100 for hors d’oeuvres and drinks or boxed lunches
- $75 for coffee and snacks
- $50 for room only
- Person(s) responsible for the event must be available to handle deliveries by caterers and other suppliers, to direct set-up and to sign for equipment received.
- All events must end one hour before library closes.
Kitchen Equipment and Catering
A refrigerator and microwave are in the catering kitchen. All other equipment including linens, utensils, glassware and additional seating or tables must be furnished by the host from a party rental supplier or caterer. Catering services must be arranged by the host; the Library does not provide a catering service. Custodial Services has a limited number of chairs and tables available for use.
Furnishings
To accommodate sit down dinners and other events, furnishings may be moved to the periphery of the room, but not out of the room. The conference tables (with table pads) may be used for dining. The host is responsible for arranging for Custodial Services to move furniture and to replace it promptly after the event. Custodial support services will be billed separately.
Housekeeping
The host is responsible for initial clean up and for depositing garbage in trash containers for removal by Custodial Services staff. Dirty dishes and all equipment and utensils must be removed from the Library immediately following the event.
Weekend Events
Since there is no Custodial Service on Saturday or Sunday, weekend events will require special arrangements with Custodial Services for cleaning or set-up services; inquire before making reservation.
Audiovisual Equipment
If audiovisual equipment is needed for your event, please contact MSCITS-AV at 314-362-2793 to schedule support service. Audiovisual service will be billed separately.
