About Access Restrictions to Electronic Resources

Access and use of electronic resources made available by the Becker Medical Library are governed by license agreements between the School of Medicine and publishers or third parties. Several of the electronic resources carry some restriction on their use. Access may be restricted by user location, number of concurrent users, and/or password.

In short, most people experience access limitations based on the network to which their computer is connected. Below is a quick breakdown of what can be accessed from various networks.

STAT!Ref Resource Changes

Access to ACP Smart Medicine, Merck Manual and other resources on STAT!Ref will end on July 2, 2016

 

ACP Smart Medicine

The American College of Physicians announced that ACP Smart Medicine would be discontinued.  The library’s access to ACP Smart Medicine on STAT!Ref will end on July 2nd.   An alternative resource is Essential Evidence Plus™    also from Stat!Ref  .

Merck Manual of Diagnosis and Therapy

Recently the Merck Manual became a freely accessible online resource (http://www.merckmanuals.com/ ) and the library discontinued access through STAT!Ref. 

The Professional Version of the Merck Manual can be found here: http://www.merckmanuals.com/professional

There is also a Consumer Version of the Merck Manual with easier to understand content that can be recommended to patients: http://www.merckmanuals.com/home
