ACP Journal Club Now Part of Annals of Internal Medicine

ACP Journal Club has become a regular part of the Annals of Internal Medicine. The Journal Club will appear once each month beginning with the May 20, 2008 issue of Annals.

ACP Journal Club now part of Annals of Internal Medicine

Since 1991, ACP Journal Club has summarized carefully selected articles from 100 clinically relevant journals, and provided enhanced abstracts and commentary from experts. Articles are chosen from original and review articles on the etiology, diagnosis, clinical prediction, prevention, treatment, or economics of medical disorders managed by internists and related subspecialists. The studies must meet rigorous screening criteria to be considered for inclusion in ACP Journal Club.

Additionally, articles are rated from 1 to 7 stars (with 7 being the most directly and highly relevant information) for clinical relevance and newsworthiness. Ratings are the average of a panel of over 2000 physicians internationally.

ACP Journal Club focuses on selected, high-quality articles on a topic, and differs from other Becker Library products supporting evidence-based practice, where the emphasis is on comprehensive reviews of the literature. For instance, the Cochrane Library and UpToDate focus on summarizing thorough reviews of the literature to make recommendations. ACP Journal Club is, in contrast, a great resource for thorough analysis of a particular article.

Individual subscribers can visit the American College of Physicians Products and Services web page for more information about the combined Annals of Internal Medicine and ACP Journal Club. For more information visit the ACP Journal Club web site.
