About Access Restrictions to Electronic Resources

Access and use of electronic resources made available by the Becker Medical Library are governed by license agreements between the School of Medicine and publishers or third parties. Several of the electronic resources carry some restriction on their use. Access may be restricted by user location, number of concurrent users, and/or password.

In short, most people experience access limitations based on the network to which their computer is connected. Below is a quick breakdown of what can be accessed from various networks.

Asthma and Allergy Awareness Month

The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) has declared May National Asthma and Allergy Awareness month because this is the season that causes the most difficulties for people with asthma and allergies. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 18.7 million adults and 6.8 million children in the US have asthma ( An estimated 50 million people in the US suffer from allergies. (   The effects of asthma and allergies can range from minor annoyances to interruption of daily activities and even death.


The Family Resource Center (FRC) at St. Louis Children’s Hospital offers several information resources on asthma and allergies including books, DVDs, and pamphlets. They are located on the third floor of Saint Louis Children’s Hospital, Room 3S-12.

Hours of operation:

Monday - Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
