About Access Restrictions to Electronic Resources

Access and use of electronic resources made available by the Becker Medical Library are governed by license agreements between the School of Medicine and publishers or third parties. Several of the electronic resources carry some restriction on their use. Access may be restricted by user location, number of concurrent users, and/or password.

In short, most people experience access limitations based on the network to which their computer is connected. Below is a quick breakdown of what can be accessed from various networks.

Becker to Host JMP Genomics Workshop

On September 14th and 15th, the Becker Medical Library will be hosting a one day hands-on workshop for the JMP Genomics desktop application.

The workshop is free of charge and the agenda is as follows:

  • 9:00am -11:30am: Importing data into JMP Genomics, will cover
    • Affymetrix data
    • Illumina data
    • One Color Array data
    • Two Color Array data
  • 12:30pm - 3:30pm
    1. Basic expression workflow:
      • Setting up workflow
      • Quality control analyses and interpretation
      • Setting up ANOVA
      • Results and interpretation
    2. Normalization: One color, two color ratio analysis
    3. Downstream analysis
      • Hierarchical clustering
      • Principal components
      • Cross correlation
    4. Basic exon workflow
