About Access Restrictions to Electronic Resources

Access and use of electronic resources made available by the Becker Medical Library are governed by license agreements between the School of Medicine and publishers or third parties. Several of the electronic resources carry some restriction on their use. Access may be restricted by user location, number of concurrent users, and/or password.

In short, most people experience access limitations based on the network to which their computer is connected. Below is a quick breakdown of what can be accessed from various networks.

Digital Commons@Becker Adds 2,000th Open Access Publication to Collection

Digital Commons@Becker recently marked a significant milestone with the addition of its 2,000th publication to the WUSM Open Access Publications collection. Beginning in 2011, library staff launched a project to identify and collect peer-reviewed, open access publications authored by faculty and staff of the School of Medicine. By bringing together works that are publicly available and free of any access restrictions the library hoped to showcase the scope of scholarly activity at the School of Medicine and demonstrate the growth and interest in the open access publishing model.

The WUSM Open Access Publications has grown to be one of the most popular Digital Commons@Becker collections with over 47,000 downloads during the past two years by visitors from over 90 countries.

Becker Library continues to create collections at no charge on behalf of departments and programs at the School of Medicine. For more information about Digital Commons@Becker visit the site at http://digitalcommons.wustl.edu or contact Cathy Sarli or Bob Engeszer.
