About Access Restrictions to Electronic Resources

Access and use of electronic resources made available by the Becker Medical Library are governed by license agreements between the School of Medicine and publishers or third parties. Several of the electronic resources carry some restriction on their use. Access may be restricted by user location, number of concurrent users, and/or password.

In short, most people experience access limitations based on the network to which their computer is connected. Below is a quick breakdown of what can be accessed from various networks.

Do You Know How Often Your Paper is Being Accessed Via PMC?

Did you know that use statistics are available for works in PubMed Central (PMC) using the NIH Manuscript Submission system (NIHMS)?

After a work is made publicly available in PMC, the general public can view the full text of the work. Through the NIHMS system, authors whose works are in PMC can obtain use statistics on the number of users accessing the works. Statistics include number of users, and the number of times the full text and PDF were accessed. Yearly reports are available.

To learn more about the use statistics for works in PubMed Central, see: NIHMS Users: Do You Know How Often Your Paper is Being Accessed Via PMC? Here’s How to Find Out.
