About Access Restrictions to Electronic Resources

Access and use of electronic resources made available by the Becker Medical Library are governed by license agreements between the School of Medicine and publishers or third parties. Several of the electronic resources carry some restriction on their use. Access may be restricted by user location, number of concurrent users, and/or password.

In short, most people experience access limitations based on the network to which their computer is connected. Below is a quick breakdown of what can be accessed from various networks.

NCBI Discovery Workshop at WUSTL - May 5th & 6th

Becker Library will be broadcasting the NCBI Discovery Workshop being held at the University of Michigan on May 5th and 6th, 2015. The NCBI Discovery Workshop will be led by Peter Cooper, PhD, Staff Scientist at NCBI, and will consist of four 2.5-hour hands-on sessions emphasizing different sets of NCBI resources. Each session will use specific examples to highlight important features of the resources and tools under study and to demonstrate how to accomplish common tasks.

 

The four sessions of the Discovery Workshop are:

Navigating NCBI Molecular Data through the Integrated Entrez System and BLAST - May 5th, 8–10:30     

Gene Expression Resources at the NCBI - May 5th, 12-2:30

NCBI Human Genes, Variation, and Medical Genetics Resources - May 6th, 8-10:30

NCBI Genomes, Assemblies, and Annotation Products: Microbiome to Human - May 6th, 12-2:30

 

Participants may attend all or any combination of these sessions. Each session is hands-on, and attendees will need to bring their own laptop to use during the sessions. Please register by clicking the session links above. Sessions will be broadcast in FLTC 214A/B or 211/212.
