New Directions - New Look

2012 has already been a noteworthy year with the completion of two major projects by the Becker Library staff.

A New Year and New Directions

In March the library published its “Strategic Directions 2012-15” an updated strategic plan that outlines how the library intends to align its talents and resources to support the School of Medicine’s mission over the next three years.  A committee of library staff led by director Paul Schoening worked for over a year to identify and define potential directions in an extensive process that included input from researchers, physicians, nurses, administrators and students here at the School of Medicine. The resulting plan includes seven areas of emphasis for the coming years where the library can and should play a vital role. Our new strategic plan can be viewed here and we encourage your comments and feedback as we look ahead to an exciting and challenging future for the library.

“We Heard You!” – A New Look for Becker Library

While drafting a new strategic plan was a major focus of the past year, the library also moved to address some more immediate concerns. In response to the overwhelming feedback of our students and visitors the library recently underwent an extensive “facelift” that included all new study tables, chairs, computers, workstations, and lighting. The renovation also included new paint, carpeting, and artwork to enhance the study areas and give the library a fresh look for the new year. For a quick tour of some of the changes you will see on your next visit, click the photos on the left to enlarge.
