About Access Restrictions to Electronic Resources

Access and use of electronic resources made available by the Becker Medical Library are governed by license agreements between the School of Medicine and publishers or third parties. Several of the electronic resources carry some restriction on their use. Access may be restricted by user location, number of concurrent users, and/or password.

In short, most people experience access limitations based on the network to which their computer is connected. Below is a quick breakdown of what can be accessed from various networks.

New Electronic Resources for Neurosurgery and Otolaryngology

Thieme Logo        Two new E-Resources, Thieme eNeurosurgery and Thieme eOtolaryngology, are now available.

 

Thieme eNeurosurgery is a continuously growing resource with new neurosurgery content being added as soon as the latest titles are available.  Search across and within Thieme’s entire neurosurgical collection, including:

  • Over 250 illustrated procedures ,original to Thieme eNeurosurgery, provide step-by-step instruction on core techniques and approaches
  • Access to Thieme’s entire neurosurgical E-Book library – over 49,000 pages of material in 108 e-books
  • More than 38,000 images, with legends and links to original sources
  • Over 50 author-narrated operative videos
  • Image download functionality for easy integration into presentations and teaching materials

Thieme eOtolaryngology is also a continuously growing resource with new otolaryngology content being added as soon as the latest titles are available.  Search across and within Thieme’s entire otolaryngology collection, including:

  • Over 60 illustrated procedures which provide step-by-step instruction on core techniques and approaches
  • Access to Thieme’s otolaryngology E-Book library.  Currently 78 titles and growing
  • Over 60 clinical cases available
  • More than 42,000 downloadable images, with legends and links to original sources, for easy integration into presentations and teaching materials
  • Almost 600 procedural technique videos

For each resource we currently have a two concurrent user license.  When using a WUSM computer or the Becker Proxy, click the Login button to initiate a guest login.  Both resources are optimized for mobile device compatibility. Registration for a free personal account while on a WUSM computer, will allow you to access the resources while offsite as well as take advantage of many additional features. All logins count against the two concurrent user limits.  Please logout when you are finished.
