About Access Restrictions to Electronic Resources

Access and use of electronic resources made available by the Becker Medical Library are governed by license agreements between the School of Medicine and publishers or third parties. Several of the electronic resources carry some restriction on their use. Access may be restricted by user location, number of concurrent users, and/or password.

In short, most people experience access limitations based on the network to which their computer is connected. Below is a quick breakdown of what can be accessed from various networks.

Partek Flow RNA-Seq analysis workshop at WU on January 28, 2015!

Becker Library will host a Partek Flow hands-on training, focused on RNA-Seq analysis on January 282015.

Becker Library recently hosted a Partek Flow hands-on training on RNA-Seq analysis, which turned out to be very popular and due to limited space, several interested researchers were not able to attend. We are happy to announce that a Field Application Scientist from Partek will present another Partek Flow hands-on workshop, on January 28, 2015.

After the workshop, Partek is offering a free trial period to WUSTL investigators. Interested investigators will be able to use Flow for free with their data or learn by working through the data analysis tutorials provided by Partek. Partek Flow is a web-based software tool designed for next generation sequencing applications including RNA, small RNA and DNA sequence analysis.

This workshop will run from 9:30am-3:30pm in the computer classroom in Farrell Learning and Teaching Center (FLTC Room 602), with the following agenda:

Morning Session 9:30am – 12:00pm:

  • Overview of RNA-Seq analysis
  • Data import, quality assessment QA/AC (pre-alignment QA/AC, post-alignment QA/QC)
  • Base trimming, alignment
  • Gene/transcript abundance estimation

Afternoon Session 1:00pm – 3:30pm:

  • Differential expression detection
  • Filtering gene lists
  • GO enrichment analysis
  • Variant detection
  • Data visualization
  • Q&A portion for researchers to ask questions about the practice data used during the workshop or their own data

This training is free and open to the WUSTL community. Registration is required. To register for the workshop, please complete the workshop registration form. If you have questions contact Maze Ndonwi at ndonwim@wusm.wustl.edu or 314 362 4737 Partek Flow logo
