About Access Restrictions to Electronic Resources

Access and use of electronic resources made available by the Becker Medical Library are governed by license agreements between the School of Medicine and publishers or third parties. Several of the electronic resources carry some restriction on their use. Access may be restricted by user location, number of concurrent users, and/or password.

In short, most people experience access limitations based on the network to which their computer is connected. Below is a quick breakdown of what can be accessed from various networks.

Becker Library is pleased to announce that a site license is now available for PyMOL. PyMOL from Schrödinger is a popular molecular visualization program on an open source foundation, used to examine molecular coordinates and render publication quality pictures of proteins and small molecules. PyMOL is available for Mac, Windows, and Linux. Users can install the software on multiple computers on campus, and off campus at no additional charge. An added benefit of the site license is free access to the feature AxPyMOL, which enables users to easily manipulate and embed PyMOL images and shows saved from actual PyMOL sessions, directly into PowerPoint.

For more information and to register for a license please visit the PyMOL information page or contact Maze Ndonwi at the Becker Library.

* Please note: Becker Briefs pages may contain links, email addresses or information about resources which are no longer current.
