Spotlight on Evidence Based Medicine: The ACP Journal Club

One commonly cited barrier to practicing evidence based medicine is the time involved with finding and critically appraising evidence. One resource that may help overcome this barrier is the ACP Journal Club. In this resource, available via Becker Medical Library, users have access to articles that have been vetted for scientific merit and relevance to current clinical practice. The ACP Journal Club has inclusion criteria for each type of study (treatment, diagnosis, etc.) included in the journal club, and each study must be methodologically rigorous.  Structured abstracts are included with every citation, making it quick and easy to ascertain which ones are relevant to your research or clinical question. Users can browse the most current issue, or search for specific topics, and create email alerts based on their clinical interests. The ACP Journal Club provides one way to make evidence based medicine more approachable for the busy clinician.
