About Access Restrictions to Electronic Resources

Access and use of electronic resources made available by the Becker Medical Library are governed by license agreements between the School of Medicine and publishers or third parties. Several of the electronic resources carry some restriction on their use. Access may be restricted by user location, number of concurrent users, and/or password.

In short, most people experience access limitations based on the network to which their computer is connected. Below is a quick breakdown of what can be accessed from various networks.

Upcoming JMP Genomics Workshop

JMP Genomics is a SAS-based suite of tools to analyze and visualize genomics data. Becker Medical Library will host a two-day, hands-on workshop on using JMP Genomics to perform expression analysis and genetic analysis. The training sessions will be held in Becker Medical Library, Room 601B, from 9:00am-4:00pm. Specific topics to be covered will include:

  • February 23, 2011 : Expression Analysis
    • Importing data from various platforms
    • Normalization
    • Quality control analysis
    • ANOVA
    • Downstream pattern analysis
  • February 24, 2011: Genetic Analysis
    • Importing data from various platforms
    • Quality control analysis
    • Case-control analysis
    • Quantitative trait analysis
