About Access Restrictions to Electronic Resources

Access and use of electronic resources made available by the Becker Medical Library are governed by license agreements between the School of Medicine and publishers or third parties. Several of the electronic resources carry some restriction on their use. Access may be restricted by user location, number of concurrent users, and/or password.

In short, most people experience access limitations based on the network to which their computer is connected. Below is a quick breakdown of what can be accessed from various networks.

Upcoming Session on the NIH Public Access Policy

Upcoming session on the NIH Public Access Policy on Friday January 17, 2014.

The NIH Public Access Policy requires investigators and scholars to submit final peer-reviewed journal manuscripts that arise from NIH funds to PubMed Central (PMC) upon acceptance of publication. All journal manuscripts applicable under the NIH Public Access Policy must demonstrate evidence of compliance in NIH applications and reports using a PMCID. NIH will delay processing of non-competing continuation grant awards if publications arising from that award are not in compliance with the NIH Public Access Policy.

This presentation will provide an overview of the NIH Public Access Policy including the steps involved in complying with the policy and how to demonstrate compliance. It will help answer questions such as:

Are you familiar with journal policies for NIH-funded authors? Do you need a PMCID for an application or progress report? Do you have a My Bibliography account?
