About Access Restrictions to Electronic Resources

Access and use of electronic resources made available by the Becker Medical Library are governed by license agreements between the School of Medicine and publishers or third parties. Several of the electronic resources carry some restriction on their use. Access may be restricted by user location, number of concurrent users, and/or password.

In short, most people experience access limitations based on the network to which their computer is connected. Below is a quick breakdown of what can be accessed from various networks.

Using Google Scholar or Scopus to Find Citing Works to Books or Book Chapters

Google Scholar and Scopus are two resources that can be used to find citing works to books or book chapters.

In 2013 Scopus began a three year project to increase book coverage to 75,000 titles. Book coverage includes monographs, edited volumes and major reference works and graduate level textbooks. After the project is completed, Scopus is committed to indexing an additional 10,000 book titles on an annual basis. See Does Scopus Index Books? for more information.

For guidance on how to use Google Scholar and Scopus, see Book Metrics.
