About Access Restrictions to Electronic Resources

Access and use of electronic resources made available by the Becker Medical Library are governed by license agreements between the School of Medicine and publishers or third parties. Several of the electronic resources carry some restriction on their use. Access may be restricted by user location, number of concurrent users, and/or password.

In short, most people experience access limitations based on the network to which their computer is connected. Below is a quick breakdown of what can be accessed from various networks.

Below are just a few of the resources and services available to you from the library, which are all provided free of charge except where resource-related fees are noted in the linked material. 

Resources

  • Clinical Care Apps: These include UpToDate, UCentral (includes Washington Manual of Medical Therapeutics), Clinical Key, Clinical Pharmacology and Access Medicine. Visit our Mobile Medicine Guide to learn how to access and install these on your mobile device.
  • Drug Guides/Pharmaceutical Resources: These include Lexicomp, Clinical Pharmacology and Natural Medicines.
  • Database Resources: Find high-quality evidence by using PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Scopus and more. Browse our full list of databases.
  • Study/Work Space: Open space with a variety of seating options is available on the library's lower level and floors 1-4, though the second floor is temporarily closed for renovation. A limited number of PCs are also available on the first floor.

  • Literature Searches: Becker staff can put together article searches for you or provide individual/small group database instruction. Simply email askbecker@wustl.edu.
