About Access Restrictions to Electronic Resources

Access and use of electronic resources made available by the Becker Medical Library are governed by license agreements between the School of Medicine and publishers or third parties. Several of the electronic resources carry some restriction on their use. Access may be restricted by user location, number of concurrent users, and/or password.

In short, most people experience access limitations based on the network to which their computer is connected. Below is a quick breakdown of what can be accessed from various networks.

The WWI Diary of Captain Levi H. Fuson of Base Hospital 21

“Over there: Missouri and the Great War” is a statewide digitization project to provide better access to materials documenting Missouri’s World War I history.  Two of Becker Library’s archival collections were scanned in their entirety for this project:  the Levi H. Fuson Papers and the Olga Krieger Diary.  Dr. Levi Fuson in his medical officers uniform, 1918

Levi Fuson was a 1915 graduate of the Washington University School of Medicine.  He served at Base Hospital 21 in France along with nurse Olga Krieger and a number of other St. Louis-based physicians and nurses shortly after his graduation.  Dr. Fuson kept a journal of his experiences during the war which detailed his treatments for patients.
