About Access Restrictions to Electronic Resources

Access and use of electronic resources made available by the Becker Medical Library are governed by license agreements between the School of Medicine and publishers or third parties. Several of the electronic resources carry some restriction on their use. Access may be restricted by user location, number of concurrent users, and/or password.

In short, most people experience access limitations based on the network to which their computer is connected. Below is a quick breakdown of what can be accessed from various networks.

Upcoming System Maintenance on December 7th

As part of scheduled maintenance on December 7th, 2013 after 10:00 PM to perform system upgrades, the medical library catalog ( may become unavailable.

Upcoming Session on the NIH Public Access Policy

The NIH Public Access Policy requires investigators and scholars to submit final peer-reviewed journal manuscripts that arise from NIH funds to PubMed Central (PMC) upon acceptance of publication. All journal manuscripts applicable under the NIH Public Access Policy must have a PMCID in proposals, applications and renewal reports. As of Spring 2013, NIH has delayed processing of non-competing continuation grant awards for publications that do not have a PMCID.

Shelving repairs on the Lower Level

The Historical Collection on the Lower Level of Becker Library will be unavailable starting November 25, 2013 while we repair the shelving.  Please excuse any noise and inconvenience as we work to improve access to the collection.

Becker in the Community - Health Information Training for School Nurses

On October 25th staff from the Becker Library and the St. Louis Children's Hospital Family Resource Center presented a training workshop on health information resources to school nurses from the Ferguson-Florissant school district.
