About Access Restrictions to Electronic Resources

Access and use of electronic resources made available by the Becker Medical Library are governed by license agreements between the School of Medicine and publishers or third parties. Several of the electronic resources carry some restriction on their use. Access may be restricted by user location, number of concurrent users, and/or password.

In short, most people experience access limitations based on the network to which their computer is connected. Below is a quick breakdown of what can be accessed from various networks.

Group License Now Available for SnapGene

Becker Library is delighted to announce that a WUSTL group license is now available for SnapGene molecular biology software.

Galaxy Biomedical Research Platform Now Available at Washington University

Becker Medical Library and the Washington University Center for High Performance Computing (CHPC) have announced the release of a locally-based WUSTL instance of Galaxy - an open, web-based platform for data intensive biomedical research.

KEGG is a database resource for understanding high-level functions and utilities of the biological system, such as the cell, the organism and the ecosystem, from molecular-level information, especially large-scale molecular datasets generated by genome sequencing and other high-throughput experimental technologies.

Group License Now Available for GraphPad Prism

Becker Library is pleased to announce that a campus site license is now available for the GraphPad Prism software package. GraphPad Prism, available for both Windows and Mac computers,  combines scientific graphing, comprehensive curve fitting (nonlinear regression), understandable statistics, and data organization.

We are happy to announce that Ensembl will be on campus October 17-18 to run training sessions for our campus.

SnapGene Software Demo (and free trial) – May 21st from 10-11 in Holden Auditorium Researchers on campus have expressed interest in SnapGene molecular biology software, so Becker Library is investigating whether there is enough interest to support a site license.

Galaxy training at WUSM April 29th

Becker Medical Library is bringing Galaxy to campus April 29th for an all-day training opportunity. Galaxy is an open, web-based platform for data intensive biomedical research that enables non-bioinformaticians to create, run, tune, and share their own bioinformatic analyses.
