About Access Restrictions to Electronic Resources

Access and use of electronic resources made available by the Becker Medical Library are governed by license agreements between the School of Medicine and publishers or third parties. Several of the electronic resources carry some restriction on their use. Access may be restricted by user location, number of concurrent users, and/or password.

In short, most people experience access limitations based on the network to which their computer is connected. Below is a quick breakdown of what can be accessed from various networks.

Free WUSTL Software Trial: Spotfire

Researchers on campus have asked us to investigate whether there is enough interest to support a group or site license for TIBCO Spotfire. As part of that investigation, we have obtained a university-wide free trial of TIBCO Spotfire with Lead Discovery and OmicsOffice. Our WUSTL free trial will run until March 20, 2015.

Becker Library and the Center for Genome Sciences & Systems Biology (CGS) are investigating whether sufficient interest exists on campus to maintain the WUSTL KEGG mirror.

New Biographical Sketch Options Now Available in SciENcv

SciENcv is a tool within My NCBI that enables investigators and their delegates to create and manage biographical sketches. The format for the new NIH biosketch has now been incorporated into SciENcv.   

Less Paper, More Space: Library to Begin Project to Shrink its Print Journal Collection

Becker Medical Library will soon begin an extensive project to reclaim floor space on its 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors that is currently occupied by bound journals. A significant portion of the print material on these floors will be relocated or eliminated, freeing the space to be used for other purposes.
