About Access Restrictions to Electronic Resources

Access and use of electronic resources made available by the Becker Medical Library are governed by license agreements between the School of Medicine and publishers or third parties. Several of the electronic resources carry some restriction on their use. Access may be restricted by user location, number of concurrent users, and/or password.

In short, most people experience access limitations based on the network to which their computer is connected. Below is a quick breakdown of what can be accessed from various networks.

The "New" Medical Center

The creation of the “new” medical center at Washington University came about largely due to the efforts of two men: Abraham Flexner and Robert Brookings. With funding from the Carnegie Foundation, Flexner set out 1908 to visit 155 medical schools throughout the United States and Canada.

Office of Faculty Affairs Topics Series, "Tools for Clinicians" presented by Becker Medical Library

Becker Medical Library is offering a series of presentations, Tools for Clinicians, for the Office of Faculty Affairs Thursday Topics Series in October, held in the Schwarz Auditorium in the Maternity Building (main floor), Noon to 1:00 pm. The Library will provide free pizza and drinks.

AccessMedicine from McGraw-Hill is an innovative online resource that provides students, residents, clinicians, researchers, and all health professionals with access to more than 60 medical titles from the best minds in medicine, updated content, thousands of photos and illustrations, interactive self-assessment, case files, diagnostic tools, a comprehensive search platform,and the ability to download content to a mobile device.

Expanded Access to Key Becker Electronic Journals

Becker Library has purchased the online backfiles of several key medical journals. In most cases, online access is now available back to volume 1 for several important titles.
