Images from H. Richard Tyler’s copy of Désiré Magloire Bourneville and Paul Régnard’s “Iconographie Photographique de la Salpêtrière,” 1879-1880. Bourneville and Régnard were students of Jean-Martin Charcot, the so-called “Father of Neurology,” and the work represents Charcot’s long-term clinical observations at the Salpêtrière and his theories on hysteria.
