Suzanne Karr Schmidt is the George Amos Poole III Curator of Rare Books and Manuscripts at the Newberry, Chicago’s independent research library since 1887. Previously, she was the assistant curator in the Department of Prints and Drawings at the Art Institute of Chicago, after holding a postdoctoral Andrew W. Mellon Fellowship there. Schmidt earned a Ph.D. in the History of Art from Yale University and a B.A. from Brown University.
