Set against the social and political changes of the 18th and 19th centuries, the novel follows the story of Alma Whittaker. As a talented botanist, Alma is fascinated by the new theory of evolution; the painter she falls in love with, Ambrose Pike, is interested in spirituality and magic.
The book club will begin with a presentation of botanical texts held at Becker Medical Library followed by a discussion. Free and open to all!
