The SciComm Journal Club – Feb. 2025

Join us as we discuss the importance of reflecting multiple voices and values in science communication with the article Reimagining publics and (non) participation: Exploring exclusion from science communication through the experiences of low-income, minority ethnic groups.

In our next session, we will continue exploring the latest advances in science communication research, current trends in scientific output, and the challenges researchers encounter when disseminating their work.

In Reimagining publics and (non) participation: Exploring exclusion from science communication through the experiences of low-income, minority ethnic groups, the group will evaluate the structural inequalities that limit the participation of underrepresented groups in science communication and reflect on ways to design science communication activities that include multiple voices, perspectives, and values. Leslie Sutton (DBBS program in Developmental, Regenerative, & Stem Cell Biology) will lead the discussion.

Reading is suggested but not required to attend. Refreshments will be served.

This event is open to all and hosted by the Center for Health and Science Communication at Becker Library. Contact Monica Sala-Rabanal at msala@wustl.edu with any questions.
