About Access Restrictions to Electronic Resources

Access and use of electronic resources made available by the Becker Medical Library are governed by license agreements between the School of Medicine and publishers or third parties. Several of the electronic resources carry some restriction on their use. Access may be restricted by user location, number of concurrent users, and/or password.

In short, most people experience access limitations based on the network to which their computer is connected. Below is a quick breakdown of what can be accessed from various networks.

Quick Tip: What exactly am I searching anyway?

Search the Becker Library catalog to find:

  • Books in print and electronic format
  • Journals* in print and electronic format
  • Rare books and archival collections
  • DVDs and streaming videos
  • Databases and websites

The main search bar will complete a keyword search for you, or click the advanced search to construct a more in-depth query. See the Becker Guides for more on using e-books and reading on mobile devices.

*Note that the catalog does NOT search for journal articles (only journal titles such as Cell or the New England Journal of Medicine). To search for a specific article or articles on a topic, use a search tool such as Embase, PubMed or Scopus, or browse our full list of databases.

* Please note: Becker Briefs pages may contain links, email addresses or information about resources which are no longer current.
