About Access Restrictions to Electronic Resources

Access and use of electronic resources made available by the Becker Medical Library are governed by license agreements between the School of Medicine and publishers or third parties. Several of the electronic resources carry some restriction on their use. Access may be restricted by user location, number of concurrent users, and/or password.

In short, most people experience access limitations based on the network to which their computer is connected. Below is a quick breakdown of what can be accessed from various networks.

Public Workstations

Becker Medical Library makes available to patrons several computer workstations for general research.  The workstations feature standard office productivity and web browser applications.  The primary purpose of the workstations is to provide patrons with reliable access to all of Becker Medical Library's web based resources.

We ask that patrons abide by the following usage rules:

  • Becker Library computers are for work related to health care and biomedical research only
  • Priority access will be given to the Washington University and Washington University Medical Center community
  • Individuals not associated with Washington University or the Washington University Medical Center who use these computers for other purposes will be asked to leave

If you need to access a computer for purposes not listed above, public access computers are available at the Schlafly Branch of the St. Louis Public Library.
