Photoduplication and scanning services for Becker Library’s rare books and archival collections are available to researchers in accordance with the policies and fee schedule provided below.
Policies for scanning rare books and archival material
- Researchers should follow the process to request material for photoduplication and scanning as outlined on the Accessing Rare Books and Archival Collections at Becker Library webpage.
- Library staff will determine which reproduction method (overhead photography or flatbed scan) is appropriate for each request.
- Library staff reserve the right to refuse any request for photoduplication if it is determined that such a request will cause damage to the original material, or if the volume of the scanning request will tax staff resources. Any requests for scanning exceeding 200 pages will be denied.
- In most cases, researchers are permitted to make reproductions using their personal camera onsite in the library’s Schwartz Archives and Rare Books Reading Room provided no flash is used. Researchers are not permitted to use personal scanners to make reproductions in the reading room.
