On Tuesday, April 30, Dr. Amanuel Haile, Dean of the College of Health Sciences at Mekelle University in northern Ethiopia, visited Becker Medical Library at Washington University in St. Louis as part of an ongoing partnership between the two institutions led by Dr. L. Lewis Wall, professor of obstetrics and gynecology.
Haile’s visit to St. Louis follows a multi-disciplinary team from Washington University’s 2017 visit to Mekelle University. Becker Library Associate Director for Health Information Services Debbie Thomas participated in the 2017 trip because of the tremendous need for library science and information technology in Africa and her experience with evidence-based medicine.
Haile’s visit was filled with a productive series of meetings that will further solidify plans for future educational and research projects that will benefit both Mekelle University and Washington University.
