Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Press to waive or discount Article Processing Charges for open access publications

Becker Medical Library and Washington University Libraries are pleased to announce a new transformative license agreement with Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Press (CSHLP) — a nonprofit publisher of leading research journals in molecular biology, genetics, and related fields.

The agreement allows for a full waiver of Article Processing Charges (APCs) for a limited number of works published by Washington University corresponding authors under a Creative Commons CC-BY Version 4.0 Open Access license with the author retaining copyright. This option only applies to original research articles — not to other article types including reviews, editorials, or analyses.

The CSHLP journals to which Washington University corresponding authors may submit articles for OA publication are:

Each year the waivers are available until the cost of the waiver reaches the cost of the annual journal subscriptions.  Once Washington University meets the limit, authors will receive a 10% discount on APC charges. Please check with the publisher about the status of the waivers.

The agreement also provides access to the following CSHLP journals:

This type of transformative publishing agreement is indicative of a trend among academic libraries, but also represents our commitment to leveraging our purchasing power with publishers to benefit our institutional authors.
