Publishing an Open Access Article? Explore Waivers and Discounts Provided by Becker Library and WashU Libraries.

Bernard Becker Medical Library and WashU Libraries participate in a number of agreements with publishers that offer WashU authors waivers and discounts for Open Access articles. If you are preparing a manuscript and want to publish under an Open Access license, consider a journal that is among the 20 agreements Becker Library has with publishers that offer waivers or discounts of Article Processing Charges (APCs) for Open Access articles published by WashU corresponding authors.

Under the agreements, WashU corresponding authors are eligible for waivers and discounts on APCs for Open Access articles. A list of publishers and details of each agreement is available in the  Subject Guide, Article Processing Charges (APCs): Waivers and Discounts for WashU Authors. The most recent publisher agreement is with De Gruyter and WashU corresponding authors are eligible for a full waiver of the APC for De Gruyter journals. The largest agreement is with Elsevier and provides full waivers or discounts of APCs in over 2,500 Elsevier journals, including the Cell Press and Lancet journals.

These agreements include Subscribe to Open (S2O) initiatives that rely on current subscription funding and infrastructure to make journals free to read and share as well as to publish in with a waiver of APCs for WashU corresponding authors. The most recent S20 initiatives were announced by the American Physiological Society  and the American Society for Microbiology.

Agreements and S2O initiatives are subject to change each year.
