Announcing a new Read and Publish agreement with Company of Biologists

Becker Medical Library and WashU Libraries are pleased to announce a new Read and Publish agreement for journals published by The Company of Biologists. This agreement will begin on January 1, 2026.

  • Corresponding authors at WashU wishing to publish Open Access in all five of The Company of Biologists’ specialist journals – Development, Journal of Cell Science, Journal of Experimental Biology, Disease Models & Mechanisms and Biology Open – will be able to do so without paying an article processing charge (APC).
  • There is no cap on APC waivers for WashU corresponding authors who publish in the above journals.
  • WashU members will be able to search and download any article from The Company of Biologists’ journals including the full archive dating back to 1853.

Additionally, a tree is planted in a UK forest every time a researcher at WashU publishes a Research article or Review article with The Company of Biologists.
