Did you know that physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals can earn CME/CE/CPD credits and Maintenance of Certification (MOC) credits just by searching and reading topics in UpToDate? Major accrediting bodies like the American Medical Association, American Academy of Pediatrics, and American Board of Internal Medicine recognize UpToDate usage as a continuing education activity. Here is a complete list of accrediting bodies that accept UpToDate CMEs: https://www.uptodate.com/home/cmececpd-accreditations
In order to earn and track CME credits in UpToDate, users first need to create an UpToDate account:
- Go to UpToDate.com while on the WUSM/BJH/SLCH internet networks.
- Click on the Log in/register button in the upper right corner to create an account (or log-in to an existing account).
- Once you are logged-in to UpToDate, click on the green CME link in the upper right corner (see image below).
- On the next page you can see how many credits you have accumulated, select the type of CME credits you would like to earn (AMA PRA Category 1, etc.), and submit credits for CE certification.
Note that you must be logged-in to UpToDate to accrue CME credits. Credit/contact hours also must be redeemed within two years from the time they are earned.
