Henry Stewart Talks (specially prepared, seminar-style, online lectures narrated by world-leading experts) not only offer a great way to expand your professional horizons – they can also be a valuable teaching tool if used to supplement existing material or in a flipped classroom scenario.
Steven Mennerick, Professor of Psychiatry and DBBS faculty member is a proponent of this approach. “I’ve been interested in using supplemental resources that give students engaging background information, allowing me to use my classroom for a more student-centered, active experience. Among these resources, I’ve found the Henry Stewart Talks to be a high-quality video series delivered by experts in many fields, including my own” Mennerick said.
Over 2,000 talks in the Biomedical and Life Science Collection are freely accessible to the medical school community through Becker Library’s subscription. Videos can be linked or embedded in existing online course resources, such as Canvas and Blackboard. Instructors may also send a syllabus to Henry Stewart Talks and receive a customized list suggesting relevant lectures.
