The Becker Archives is pleased to announce that an index of the Max A. Goldstein Collection of Scientific Articles on Otorhinolaryngology is now available on the Becker Archives Database.

This collection features more than ten thousand scientific articles on subjects related to the study and practice of ear, nose, and throat medicine. The articles were collected by otologist and founder of the Central Institute for the Deaf Max Goldstein, MD, and were primarily published between 1880 and 1930. While the articles are predominantly in English, a significant portion of the articles are written in German, French, and Spanish.
The collection covers a wide range of topics within ear, nose, and throat medicine. Articles focus on topics related to speech and hearing; the head and neck, including the nose, nasopharynx, mouth, oropharynx, accessory sinuses, larynx, trachea, bronchus, thyroid, esophagus, ear, mastoid, labyrinth, and intracranial structures; related diseases, including diphtheria and tuberculosis; and related therapies and instruments.
This vast collection includes many articles which are not available online or in scholarly databases; the index of the collection includes a citation for each article in order to make these publications more discoverable and accessible to researchers. Those who are interested may take advantage of our scanning services, or view the collection in our reading room.
