Update on Elsevier Agreement
Calling WashU Corresponding authors!
As a reminder, we are in the second year of our Agreement with Elsevier that allows for a full waiver of the APC for WashU Corresponding Authors who publish their work under an Open Access license in a journal that offers Open Access publishing (Hybrid journal) as an option. A Hybrid journal is a subscription-based journal that offers authors the option to publish their work under an Open Access license and issues of the journal will contain a mix of subscription and Open Access articles.
The table displays the number of remaining waivers for authors who publish their work under an Open Access license in a Hybrid journal or a Hybrid Cell Press journal.
| Journal Bundle | Number of Waivers | Remaining Waivers |
| Hybrid Journals | 455 | 342 |
| Hybrid Cell Press | 62 | 37 |
*current as of July 15, 2025
The agreement also allows for an APC discount for authors who publish their work in Gold Open Access journal. The APC discount is 25% for Gold journals and 10% for Gold Cell Press and Lancet journals. Please see: Elsevier APC Waivers and Discounts for WashU Authors for more information.
