2026 Journal Citation Reports
Clarivate Analytics recently released the 2026 edition of Journal Citation Reports (JCR), reflecting 2025 data. The 2026 release includes rankings across 254 subject categories for over 22,000 journals from 113 countries. The release includes unified rankings among all journals indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection databases including the Emerging Sources Citation Index™ (ESCI).

The M-Index
The Mentorship Index (M-index) aims to provide a quantifiable proxy of how researchers support junior scientists, offering a new way to evaluate academic impact. The M-index counts publications where the scientist served as last author (the senior/mentoring role) and the first author (the mentee who led the work) was new to science, proxied by the number of publications associated with their name at the time. For example, the M10-index is the number of last-author publications where the first author had fewer than 10 publications at the time.
