Sometimes the book or journal article you need isn’t available in Becker Library’s collections, but that doesn’t mean your search has to end. Through Interlibrary Loan (ILL), WashU Medicine faculty, students and staff have free access to books, articles, and other research materials from libraries across the country.
Set Up Your Account and Submit Requests
Create an ILL account or sign in to your existing account to request books, book chapters, journal articles, and more.
Time-Saving Tip: When searching Becker’s PubMed or other library databases:
- Click Get It @ Becker.
- If the full text isn’t available through Becker Library, click Request this item through Interlibrary Loan.
- If you already have an ILL account, the request form will automatically populate with citation information.

Turnaround Times & Delivery
- Journal articles: Most are delivered electronically within 1–2 business days.
- Books and other physical items: Typically arrive in about one week with loan periods varying by the lending library.
- Materials from Becker’s print collection: Need a chapter from a Becker print book or an article from a print journal? Use our Document Delivery service. Our staff will scan eligible materials and email you a PDF.
