Are you ready for Open October 2024? Please join us for a series of events highlighting trends in open science, open data, and open access. Of particular interest are two sessions:
- Scientific Publishing and Openness: Perspectives from Insiders
Join us for this lively in-person panel discussion on Tuesday October 1, 2024, to learn more about trends in public access, open access and publishing from WashU Medicine experts who serve in editorial roles for traditional and open access journals. - How Open Science Can Advance Equity for People with Disabilities
Bonnielin Swenor, PhD, MPH, Endowed Professor of Disability Health and Justice Director, Johns Hopkins Disability Health Research Center, will discuss the ways open science approaches can improve access to science and research for people with disabilities. Topics will include the role of accessibility, importance of inclusive science policy, and actions we all can take to make science more disability inclusive. This virtual event is presented in collaboration with the Center for Health and Science Communication at Becker Library.

Common Forms for Biographical Sketch and Current and Pending (Other) Support for NIH, SciENcv, and ORCID
NIH recently issued a notice about the use of Common Forms, SciENcv, and ORCID: NIH’s Adoption of Common Forms for Biographical Sketch and Current and Pending (Other) Support by May 25, 2025.
Common Forms for Biographical Sketch and Current and Pending (Other) Support
- NIH will adopt the Common Forms for the Biographical Sketch and Current and Pending (Other) Support.
- The Common Forms must be used for all applications and Research Performance Progress Reports (RPPR) on or after May 25, 2025.
- Science Experts Network Curriculum Vitae (SciENcv) will be required to complete the Common Forms.
- SciENcv will produce a digitally certified PDF Biographical Sketch Supplement for use in application submission.
ORCID
- All Senior/Key Personnel will be required to enter their ORCID ID into SciENcv in the Persistent Identifier (PID) section of the Common Forms.
- Note: An ORCID record, if updated and not set to private, can be used to auto-populate the SciENcv biosketch. See: ORCID and SciENcv.
- All Senior/Key Personnel will be required to link their ORCID ID to their eRA Commons Personal Profile. For information, see: ORCID ID topic in the eRA Commons online help.
