In our next session, hosted in partnership with the Division of Biology & Biomedical Sciences’ Science Communication Credential, we will continue exploring the latest advances in science communication research, current trends in scientific output, and the challenges researchers encounter when disseminating their work. Clarice Pavlak (Immunology) will lead the discussion.

In How the Design of Presentation Slides Affects Audience Comprehension: A Case for the Assertion–Evidence Approach (Int J Eng Educ 29: 1564-1579, 2013), we will examine the advantages of a revolutionary, yet still relatively unknown, audience-centric method for preparing and delivering presentations –scientific and otherwise.

Reading is suggested but not required to attend! Refreshments will be served.

This event is open to all and hosted by the Center for Health & Science Communication at Becker Library and the Division of Biology & Biomedical Sciences’ Science Communication Credential. Contact Monica Sala-Rabanal at msala@wustl.edu with any questions.

Note: Sneha Chaturvedi (Neurosciences) will now present the article Avoiding Ableist Language: Suggestions for Autism Researchers (Autism Adulthood 3: 18-29, 2020) at our next Scicomm Journal Club on May 15.
