In this workshop you will learn to use 1) the data dictionary to create and modify instruments and 2) the data import tool to import existing data in a csv file to REDCap.
The data dictionary is a spreadsheet defining structure of your project. It is convenient for creating large data collection instruments with repeating multiple choice options and calculated fields. The data import tool allows you to import data from a csv file directly into your REDCap project.
Who should attend?
People who have experience creating instruments in REDCap and are interested in using the data dictionary to enhance instrument creation.
People who have data stored in another location and would like to import it directly to REDCap.
Please note this is an advanced level REDCap workshop that requires an understanding of data structure and manipulation. We will not cover topics covered in the Introduction to REDCap workshop such as creating data collection instruments, entering data, and exporting data during this workshop. If you would like more information on these topics, please attend an Introduction to REDCap workshop.
If the class is full, register to be on the waiting list and we will add more workshops based on demand.
Note: If you do not already have a REDCap account OR you are using Version 7 of REDCap, please go to https://redcap.wustl.edu/, click "REDCap Version 8 Production Server" to register for an account prior to the workshop. Desktop computers are available for attendees to use but you are welcome to bring a laptop if you prefer.
