November is best time to license IPA and PyMOL research software

Several research software tools are widely used on campus and researchers, therefore, benefit from Becker Library serving as a hub for bulk licensing and passing discounts along to licensees. Two such tools offered through Becker licensing – Ingenuity Pathway Analysis (IPA) and PyMOL – renew each November, and cannot be prorated if licensed at any other time of year. It is therefore advantageous for researchers to consider new subscriptions each fall as that’s when they will get the most out of the licensing fee.

SnapGene also renews each November, but unlike IPA and PyMOL, can be prorated if licensed at any other time of year.

Brief descriptions of IPA and PyMOL are below – follow the links to learn more about each, including system requirements, availability and new user licensing forms.

  • Ingenuity Pathway Analysis (IPA) has a broad set of features that allow you to quickly understand and visualize your data. It covers a wide range of applications and technologies including biomarker discovery, metabolomics, microRNA research, next-generation sequencing data analysis, proteomics, toxicogenomics, and transcriptomics. • PyMOL from Schrödinger is a popular molecular visualization application, used to examine molecular coordinates and render publication quality pictures of proteins and small molecules. Learn more about PyMOL
