Essential resources and services:
- Find assistance with literature searches, using databases and other information needs: Email us at askbecker@wustl.edu or visit the Information Services Desk
- Search for print and electronic books and journals in our catalog to find the titles you need
- Remote/off-campus access to library resources (WUSTL Key required). Watch this brief video to learn more
- Free access to popular medical apps like UpToDate, Read by QxMD and Unbound Medicine
- Browse subject guides with resources for DBBS, Medical, Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy students.
- Library staff offer a variety of training workshops online and in-person. Learn how to better utilize databases for literature searches, use Endnote for citation management, or use REDCap for research projects
Becker Library has an array of study spaces and amenities for students, residents, faculty, staff or any WUSM community member:
- Find open study spaces on the main floor, study cubicles and quiet study spaces on the lower level, and floors 1, 2, 3 and 7. The 4th and 6th floors are set aside for quiet study
- Reserve group study spaces here
- Computers, printers and photocopy machines
- “Research Pod” computers with specialized software, including SAS, Adobe Creative Cloud, GraphPad Prism and EndNote are located on the first floor
Researchers and others working on manuscripts for publication may be interested in these resources and services:
- Author analytics and support: Assistance with NIH-grant compliance, selecting the best journal for your manuscript and publication metrics information
- Research Profiles (profiles.wustl.edu): A knowledge base for exploring the expertise, research interests and publications of the faculty, departments and centers of Washington University School of Medicine – and a great way to find potential collaborators or mentors for your research projects
- Research computing: Free entry-level training on a variety of research computing topics including Computing Basics, MATLAB, Python and R
- Data Management and Sharing: Becker Library has partnered with the Institute for Informatics, Data Science and Biostatistics (I2DB) to provide educational offerings and support services for data management and sharing to the Washington University Medical Center community, including REDCap and Data Management Plan Tool (DMPTool) workshops
- Health literacy and plain language review services can help you tailor and simplify a wide variety of documents, including data collection instruments, study recruitment materials, and consent forms.
- Software licensing: Assistance with licensing for specialized programs like GraphPad Prism, Partek Flow, SnapGene and PyMOL
Becker Library has unique holdings and collections worth checking out:
- Archives and Rare Books Division: Learn about the history of medicine and our own medical school through our collection of classic medical texts and artifacts. You can even hold an actual Nobel Prize medal
- Feuerstein Health and Wellness Information Center: Check out a book from our rotating collection of health and wellness resources. The collection includes everything from exercise and nutrition books, to health equity and JEDI resources
- Identities, Experiences and Perspectives Collection: A medical student-curated collection of books that detail the lived experiences of diverse people in our community
